KPR Wildlife Monitoring

Project: KPR Wildlife Monitoring

About this project

Ranger-Led Monitoring and Protection.

Concerned about the long-term protection of wildlife in Khwai Private Reserve, we have focused on equipping rangers with the tools they need to be effective on the ground. This includes binoculars, rain gear, cameras, two-way radios, and tablets used to record wildlife sightings, patrol routes, and incidents in real time. In selected areas, motorbikes extend patrol reach, allowing rangers to access remote and difficult terrain more efficiently.

Training plays a critical role in safeguarding a reserve of this scale. Beyond routine patrols, rangers are trained in population monitoring, invasive species management, and the identification and protection of endangered tree species. Together, consistent field presence and reliable data collection strengthen day-to-day protection while informing longer-term conservation planning and management decisions.
