Working closely with local communities, the Mmogo Centres for Community Development focus on the upliftment of women in rural north-west Botswana. ‘Mmogo’ — meaning together in Setswana — reflects the collaborative spirit at the heart of these centres. In Moreomaoto, near Meno a Kwena, a Mmogo women’s craft centre supports local basket and jewellery makers, creating opportunities for sustainable income while strengthening community resilience and connection to conservation—building pathways for women to develop skills, independence, and opportunity, and strengthening families and communities side by side.
