One of the latest additions to our conservation education outreach is Lessons in Conservation (LiC). This youth-led organisation seeks to expose children to the beauty of their local environment, with their over-arching mission to raise awareness about conservation in rural communities across Africa. The hope being that they inspire a love for nature and foster environmental stewardship among Africa’s rural youth.
The LiC team teach the children basic ecological principles as well as the importance of conservation, and importantly they train and support local ambassadors to run the programme into the future. The participating children also have an opportunity to witness wildlife first hand on an educational excursion into reserves. In the reserves they enjoy game drives, bush walks and a variety of other educational activities.
To date, we’ve supported two projects in Botswana by Lessons in Conservation: one in Khwai and another in Moreomaoto.
